Oil Painting I is an online course in oil painting that guides the student step-by-step from understanding the history of oil painting, how to artfully use oil painting techniques that use various brushes and tools, aspects of color theory and color blending to create moods and effects, how to sketch what you want to paint, how to work with light and dark -- shade and shadow, and to paint still life and land/sea scapes.
Course Outline: Introduction: This lesson provides a brief history of oil painting. Lesson 1: Tool and Materials - This lesson discusses the various types of brushes and materials used in oil painting. Lesson 2: Color Theory- This lesson outlines working with color and its shades and hues, blending colors and creating mood and effect. Lesson 3: Sketching - This lesson covers sketching forms, shapes and objects, as well as working with lighting -- shading and shadowing of 3D sphere, box and pear contour.Lesson 4: - Painting Still Life - This lesson gives a step-by-step instruction on painting objects and their texture: a coconut, guitar and bowl of fruit; also a night-time silhouette. Lesson 5: Painting Land and Seascapes - This lesson shows how to paint a full landscape and seascape. Final Review - This is a final review to creating a full color oil painting of your choice: land or seascape. Course Requirements 1. A passion for creating beautiful oil paintings. 2.
